OMNIKEY Smart Card Readers Chosen by Sig-Tec Corporation for Use in Software-Based PC Security Solutions

 Irvine, CA (December 8, 2005) OMNIKEY, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of innovative smart card readers, announced today that Sig-Tec Corporation has completed the integration of OMNIKEY´s desktop smart card readers into Sig-Tec´s line of software-based security solutions.  

 

Sig-Tec’s software-based security solutions provide HIPPA and Sarbanes-Oxley compliant authentication and auditing for standalone and networked computers using Windows 2000, Windows XP, or newer operating systems.  These solutions feature a modular, proprietary non-pass-through replacement GINA, true multi-factor authentication, password synchronization, and support for a number of authentication devices.

• First, OMNIKEY offered us the ability to use a single desktop reader manufacturer to provide products with:  (1) contact smart card capability; (2) 13.56 MHz contactless smart card capability for iCLASS, MIFARE, DESFire, and Smart MX in a single reader; and (3) 125 kHz compatibility with HID proximity technology.

• Second, OMNIKEY smart card readers offered a high degree of interoperability backed with robust firmware and driver support.
